Scaling Up Two Services in Cities: Battery Swapping, and Retail on Autonomous Wheels

We argue that the smart-city movement will transition from the tech-oriented stage to the decision-oriented stage. Hence, a smart city can be perceived as a system scope within which planning and operational decisions are orchestrated at the urban scale, reflective of multi-dimensional needs, and adaptive to massive data and innovation. To exemplify the above notion of smart cities, in this talk, I will present two recent essays. The first essay is about electric vehicle battery swapping systems and the second essay is about retail on wheels, or the so-called “stall economy. 报告人简介:祁炜博士现为清华大学工业工程系长聘副教授,国家级高层次青年人才,他博士毕业于加州大学伯克利分校工业工程与运筹系,曾任加拿大麦吉尔大学管理学院助理教授、(终身)副教授,兼任美国劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室中国能源研究室战略顾问。祁炜教授团队的研究方向是“智慧城市运筹学”,即从运筹学的观点来审视和解决当今城市发展中涌现出的各种新挑战,例如电网交通网耦合、最后一公里物流、共享经济、气候韧性等。他的研究成果发表在OR、MS、M&SOM、POM、IEEE系列等国际顶尖期刊上,他曾获 INFORMS 选址分析领域新星奖,INFORMS能源领域最佳论文奖等多项学术荣誉,曾主持加拿大魁北克研究基金会-NSFC智慧城市和大数据研究计划、加拿大自然科学与工程研究理事会基金等多项研究项目。
